Drenched...
Not your usual Sunday morning....1:00AM GMT and I'm stood outside. My mother and brother wielding a bucket of water and my 5DMkII.
We wanted to get this shot in one take (still not sure why I thought it was a good idea at this time of the morning) to minimise my chance of pneumonia. 40 buckets of water later, and i'm a shivering wreck!
Was it worth it? Well my brother and mother sure thought so, and having just learnt it made it onto explore at number #15, i'd agree!

Fantastic, 586' deep pit
Fantastic Pit is 586' deep, which is the deepest known cave pit in the continental United States. This pit is big enough to hold the Washington Monument (555'). It is a truly fantastic rappel, it takes almost 8 seconds for a rock to hit the bottom.

Dreamy pink peonies
Dreamy pink peonies
Is there anything more lovely than pink peonies? These darlings were shot last weekend at my dad's place...
It was very difficult to get the colour temperature right here, it was such a cold photo to begin with. I don't like "cold" photos but on the other hand the pink of the peony can get too orangey if you make the photo too warm, so it's a difficult balance... I'm still not a hundred percent happy with it, but it was the best I could do for now.
Reached front page in explore! :)

Way of Seeing
Just digging through the archives as and the thing that struck I was just how many images I’ve processed and not uploaded to the web, this got me thinking.
I tend to review my images and process one or two of my favourites from any one session, then place them in a folder and sit on them for a bit in order to separate my familiarity of the session from distorting my objective view. Then if after a few weeks an image rekindles my attention, it must holds something deeper for me. This often is a collection of textures, light, conditions, but... even if a shot keeps my attention for months, the thing that always difficult, is below par composition. If a shot isn’t balanced I tend to reside it to the hard drive for good.
Anyway, the thing is, I don’t often go back past a few months, as I’ve come to view this practice as creatively moving backwards. But what I’ve been overlooking, is as your development moves forwards, it changes your perception and ironically this new way of seeing may unearth fresh insights from the past.
